Acupuncture has successfully treated disorders like infertility, insomnia, and chronic pain, to name a few. But how do you know whether acupuncture is right for you? In this exploration, find out how acupuncture actually feels, what to expect in a session, and how long it generally takes to see progress. JULIE TAYLOR, Licensed Acupuncturist with 20 years experience, will explain the most common “disharmonies” people have, and how they manifest into physical ailments. Julie, who practices acupuncture at the St.Thomas/ YMCA Institute for the healing Arts and has worked as an instructor and researcher with the National Institute of Health, will explain how your constitution fits into the scheme of Chinese medical theory.

BEVERLY BAIN, a licensed massage therapist, certified reflexologist and Reiki master/teacher with ten years experience, and ROTONYA TROUP, also a licensed massage therapist and certified reflexologist with 16 years experience, will teach this popular class. They will show couples how to engage in comforting touch, safe touch and how to make a difference through the art of massage.

304 Life Partners: How We Pick Them, How to Live With Them

Explore themes that apply to all relationships, but especially committed relationships and marriages. ROD KOCHTITZKY, M. Div., is a Certified Workshop Presenter, Advanced Clinician in Imago Relationship Therapy and a Fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. He brings his experience from private practice therapy with couples and groups to this unique workshop. You will gain a broad understanding of how relationship agendas are scripted, as well as examine how being conscious of these agendas can empower different action. 305 The Care and Feeding of Boys
RESCHEDULED
Many issues are unique to the parenting of boys - beyond, of course, teaching them to put the toilet seat back down. In this class clinical psychologist DR. WARREN THOMPSON will address these and other challenges, from discipline techniques and effective communication to expectations and goals for boys. Dr. Thompson has been employed by the Nashville school system for 25 years, and conducts therapy groups for teenagers at Hillsboro High School. He is a widower and the father of three college-age children.

306 Understanding How Boys and Girls Learn Differently
Learning style preferences, skill development, and social relationship differences in boys and girls has been studied for ages. What have we learned from it? Find out in this low-jargon, high-application class presented by NANCY NOLAN, M.Ed., founder of KIDSTUFF Resources Education Consulting Services. Nancy has presented in-service and educational programs to many schools. She promises lots of lively discussion, debate, and hands-on exercises that will provide useful insights in a fun atmosphere.

307 Children's Body Images: A Discussion with Parents
How do you help your child develop a healthy sense of self in a culture that emphasizes unrealistic and unattainable ideals of physical beauty? KAREN SILIEN, Ph.D, a licensed psychologist in private practice, will explain the impact of media, family, peers, and society in the development of an adolescent's body image and self-esteem. Dr. Silien, whose research has focused on body image and its relationship with eating disorders, will offer you preventative strategies for helping your child with the development of a healthy and positive self-image.

308 What Parents Need to Know About Eating Disorders
Join a group of community leaders in the area of diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders for a pivotal discussion on this subject. Panel members include KAREN SILIEN, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist in private practice; OVIDIO BERMUDEZ, M.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine; REBA SLOAN, MPH, LRD, a licensed nutritionist specializing in weight management and treatment of eating disorders for children; and JAMIE MENZIE, a sophomore honors scholar at Vanderbilt University, who will discuss her journey of recovery from an eating disorder.

309 The Internet and Your Kids
Whether kids are instant messaging or file sharing, web browsing or gaming, parents are often concerned with the issues of safety and privacy that these activities raise. Noted Internet pioneers and professors at the Owen Graduate School of Management, DONNA HOFFMAN and TOM NOVAK will conduct an interactive workshop addressing Internet usage by teens and younger children. Participants will discuss ways to talk to children and teens about their online activities, learn about appropriate software filters and how to avoid the "dark side", of the Internet ensuring a positive and productive usage of the Web.

What is enlightenment or awakening? Is it possible to live in a state of constant joy and peace - feeling and experiencing everything, while letting go of suffering? This workshop will provide an introduction to some of the tools of awakening - meditation, breath work, and energy exercises. THOM CRONKHITE and CAROLINE COTTOM, Ph. D, will teach this class together, drawing on their diverse spiritual experience and state of awakened life.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has considered adoption, or just wants to learn more about it.
