Seniors Chris Kim (on violin) and Hannah Edelman performed Dvorák at last week’s Convocation before 2008 Disitnguished Alumni Kate Ransom ’75 and Will Ransom ’76, also a violinist and a pianist, spoke to the seniors and their families. The Ransoms, brother and sister, played music by Beethoven, Massenet, Chopin, and Franck.

MTSU Adult Summer Language Institute
The MTSU Adult Summer Language Institute offers intensive language classes at USN for adults (also open to rising 7th graders and older students). Sponsored by the Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition at MTSU, language offerings include: German, Arabic, Chinese/Mandarin, French, Scottish Gaelic, and Spanish. This year the fourth graders didn’t stop with making electric houses—they made electric towns. Mrs. Noel’s class built this one, with each student building and wiring a house. Top: Youssef Doss, a student in Mrs. Marler’s class, finishes his wiring.

The Lower School Photo Project has raised over $3,500.

Shannon Paty, PDS 68, was among about two dozen alumni who came to the 2nd Grade Pen Pal Luncheon on the Friday of Reunion Weekend last month. Each year members of Reunion Classes are invited to become pen pals to second graders, and some stay in contact with their new friends for years.
