In addition to the wide variety of summer camps for K-12 students, the MTSU Adult Summer Language Institute will offer intensive language classes for adults (also open to rising 7th graders and older students). Sponsored by the Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition at MTSU, language offerings include: German, Arabic, Chinese/Mandarin, French, Scottish Gaelic, and Spanish.

This studiousness is one of the ways that Raffi Friedman ‘08 became a finalist for a Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia. Last year, fewer than 100 finalists were chosen from nearly 1,000 nominees for this prestigious full scholarship. To quote the Jefferson Scholars website, “Demonstrated excellence and exceptional potential in the areas of leadership, scholarship, and citizenship are the only selection criteria.”

Goodlettsville Driver Training is offering Driver Education Classes at USN this summer. The course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of time behind the wheel. You may choose either of two sessions: June 2-5 or July 7-10, 8:00-4:00. The discounted fee for USN students is $350. Tomorrow at lunch, the High School Community Service Club will hold a pizza sale for middle school students. Slices will be $2 for one and $3 for two. The money goes for tornado relief in Tennessee.

In the state qualifying chess tournament, the primary team came in third and elementary came in fourth, and both teams qualified for the State championship, to be held at the end of the month. Our primary team was represented by Elsa Wilson, Puja Jagasia, Wei Dai, Will Greenfield, and John Morphett. Jake Wilson, Robert Green, Jing Dai, and Ria Jagasia made up our elementary team.
