Middle School Kids Care Club partnered with “More than Warmth” to send quilts to children affected by war.  Read more.

Retreats

Last week the ninth grade class, junior and senior PEAs, and 15 teachers went to Camp DeSoto in Mentone, Alabama for the annual Freshman Retreat, engaging in outdoor activities and challenges.

When the freshmen and sophomores were away on their retreats last week, juniors (above) attended workshops on SAT preparation, and seniors worked on college admissions.

Book Buddies



Fourth graders gather with their kindergarten “book buddies” once a week during the year. Here, Ms. Marler’s class joins Ms. Avington-Scott’s class for Morning Meeting and then a read-aloud time. Fourth grade students selected some of their favorite picture books to share with their book buddies.

Tiger Sports News

MS Athletics Tigers of the Week
Congratulations to Lance Hamilton and Chanse Jones for being named MS athletics “Tigers of the Week.” Lance is the starting running back for the General/Tigers football team and has been carrying the load through the early part of the season. Chanse had an excellent game this past Saturday, punctuated with a 65-yard screen pass for a touchdown in a losing effort to St. Henry’s. The General/Tigers next take the field Saturday at noon versus Holy Rosary.

Middle School Soccer Meeting Rescheduled

The parent/coaches’ meeting has been rescheduled. Parents of boys now meet with the coach at 5:00 on Monday, September 24 in the Gordon Multipurpose room. Parents of girls meet at 5:00 on Tuesday, September 25. Soccer players are welcome to attend.

Volunteers Needed for XC Meets

USN is hosting two major high school cross country meets at the Steeplechase on Saturday, September 15 and Saturday, September 22 from 8:00 – 2:00. The team seeks parent volunteers to assist as finish line chute workers (20) and tee shirt salespeople (5). Anyone interested may email Coach Ahmed: zahmed@usn.org.


Health Forms Needed
All high school and middle school athletes must have a health form on file with the athletic department before they engage in team practices. Forms are on the USN website and should be returned to Josh Scouten in the athletics office. Email jscouten@usn.org if you have questions.
