University School's admissions policy reflects its commitment to academic excellence in a pluralistic setting. Nearly 20 percent of University School of Nashville's enrollment comprises students of color, the greatest ethnic diversity of any independent school in the area. New students are admitted to all grade levels where there are available openings. We seek academically able and curious students eager to participate in the life of the school.

The Admissions Committee considers several pieces of information in reviewing an applicant's file.  They include school records, teacher recommendations, testing, interview (when appropriate), extracurricular talents, and sibling status.  Typically, applicants are offered admission after a winter application and testing process, with decisions made by the March before matriculation.  University School admits qualified students of any race, color, sexual orientation, religion, disability, national or ethnic origin.

Financial aid is available and need-based. The first step in applying for aid is for parents to file a form called the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) with the School and Student Service for Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey. The Parents' Financial Statement form is available from the Admissions Office.
